2021.10.23 09:01 WTFisLife__ A friend cut me off and I am hyperventilating.
We[24M&F] were friends for about almost a year now and lately I can feel the relationship fizzling out but then again we still talk everyday, not with the same intensity as before but just to keep it going and stay in touch.
These days, my friend is on vacation so I get that it if they can't text me all the time and respond right away.
BUT they have been posting vacation pictures on social media and interacting with the comments and liking other peoples posts and I still do not get a response for my last text.
It hurts like hell when ever I see a post by them or see that they've liked something and my text is still on delivered. DELIVERED not even seen.
I guess I'm thinking too much but also, it isn't that hard to send a reply saying they can't talk right now. or even if they think that we should never talk at all and end this
Ghosting is a cowards move but still I'm the one hurting.
Do I get closure or leave it be? Its eating me up.

2021.10.23 09:01 tiateaspoon Graduated 10/18! Positive unmedicated birth: at home laboring with doula, supportive partner, arrived at hospital JUST in time to push.
Super long post. TLDR at the end.
I woke up around 1AM on 10/17 (40+1) with contractions that felt noticeably different than regular Braxton Hicks. These were more uncomfortable than BH but not what I would call painful. I believe these were pretty classic pre-labor symptoms.
Early labor began Around 1PM when I started feeling regular mild contractions about every 6-8 minutes. By late afternoon I lost my mucus plug as contractions intensified. My partner made sure I ate snacks, drank lots of water, and did some acupressure we learned in our birthing class.
Around 5PM I knew things weren’t going to slow down so we buckled in for laboring at home as long as possible. My partner and I timed contractions and rotated through comfort measures (various positions, counter pressure, etc.)
By 8PM my contractions were intense enough that I started feeling defeated and worried I wouldn’t be able to hack the rest of labor. We called the hospital midwife and they said to let them know if anything significant changed. What that was supposed to be, we weren’t really sure. Luckily, that’s also when our doula arrived and helped me recenter and get through many more contractions.
Our doula timed my contractions, but it wasn’t until about 10:45PM that she said it would be good to call the midwives and let them know where we are at. One more contraction and my membranes began to rupture. At that point we headed out the door and to the hospital.
We arrived at the hospital and It took all my strength to avoid pushing while at the front desk. I crouched on the floor as we waited for a nurse to bring a wheelchair and they wheeled me straight to the delivery room.
As soon as I got into the room I immediately hopped onto the bed on all fours because this was the only thing I could think to do. The midwife checked me and said I was 9-10 cm dilated. Nobody told me to push but my body took over, so with fantastic support from my doula, my partner, the midwife, and L&D nurses, I delivered my healthy 6 lb 8 oz baby at 12:47 AM!
The most complicated bits came after baby’s arrival. While the midwife was stitching my 2nd degree tear, she noticed I kept bleeding even though my uterus was contracting well. She called in the OB to perform an ultrasound. They wound up needing to manually sweep my uterus to check for clots, so I agreed to some pitocin to support my uterus contracting and fentanyl to quickly manage the pain from their procedure. This part felt like birthing in reverse, even with the pain reliever.
Here are my big takeaways from my experience:
Having a doula made it possible for me to have the birth I wanted. I’ve got the most supportive partner on the planet, but even he was well out of his depth after I hit active labor. (Rant first: It’s stupid that we have to outsource and pay extra for the support that all birthing people should have access to wherever they give birth. )
The 4+1+1 or 3+1+1 rule is not what contractions can feel like. When timed, on average I could have hit 3 min between contractions lasting at least a minute for an hour, but it was never consistent. We had to rely heavily on our doula to track them.
“The Birth Partner” book was a life saver throughout the day as I questioned each change I went through. It described clearly what pre-labor and early labor felt like for me. This helped keep me from feeling unsure about things.
Our Evidence Based Birth class was another invaluable resource for a birthing family who confront anxiety and fear with information.
TLDR: Physiological birth with textbook 12 hour labor progression at home and arrived at the hospital just in time to push. Some interventions post labor due to excess bleeding. Incredibly positive experience!

2021.10.23 09:01 AnSplanc Surgical fun, Dr gets fired
This one happened back in 2007 or so. I (27F at the time) needed surgery on my back and the main surgeon decided to let one of his underlings do the surgery. I was ok with this as he usually only hired the best. As it turns out this guy was the worst. I was lying on my belly one the table, wide awake with my back numbed up. This is usually how things go with this particular surgery (I’ve had it more than 10 times now). They were implanting a device and I needed to be awake to tell them if it was stimulating the right spot. After a while I started to feel mild pain in my back so I told the anaesthetist, who told my surgeon (His name was Dr Hoo btw) Dr Hoo ignored every word and kept working. I started low key screaming from pain and this guy was ignoring me. Suddenly I start feeling EVERYTHING he’s doing to me and I lose it. At the top of my lungs I scream “I swear to fuck if you don’t numb me up right now, I’ll bitch slap you back into the TARDIS!!!!” The staff stop what they’re doing and burst out laughing, Dr Hoo looks confused and his boss shows up (he heard everything from the opposite end of the surgical floor) a couple of seconds later, fully scrubbed, pissed off and trying not to laugh, and he was ready to take over. He got me numbed up and once he found the right spot, he knocked me out cold so I wouldn’t have to keep screaming. I did get the absolute pleasure of firing Dr Hoo and his boss backed me up. He’s still a doctor but not in that hospital and he’s not allowed near patients anymore (he does research now)

2021.10.23 09:01 calitexflo Need a friend
Hey everyone. I’ve had a really hard time controlling my urges especially lately. I’ve been working a lot and stressed. I have some anxiety and depression problems so I feel like masturbating is my only release. I’m just asking if I could have some people I could talk to when I’m feeling urges or someone who could help me and hold me accountable. Thanks in advance

2021.10.23 09:01 StillaCentristin2021 New whistleblower claims Facebook allowed hate, illegal activity to go unchecked
Facebook Facilitated Hate, Lies and Illegal Activity and let it Perpetuate Unchecked for Profit
A new whistleblower affidavit submitted by a former Facebook employee Friday alleges that the company prizes growth and profits over combating hate speech, misinformation and other threats to the public, according to a copy of the document obtained by The Washington Post.
The whistleblower’s allegations, which were declared under penalty of perjury and shared with The Post on the condition of anonymity, echoed many of those made by Frances Haugen, another former Facebook employee whose scathing testimony before Congress this month intensified bipartisan calls for federal action against the company. Haugen, like the new whistleblower, also made allegations to the Securities and Exchange Commission, which oversees publicly traded companies.
The new whistleblower is a former member of Facebook’s Integrity team whose identity is known to The Post and who agreed to be interviewed about the issues raised in the legal filing. Perhaps the most vivid moment in the affidavit comes in a direct quote the whistleblower reported hearing from a top Facebook communications official during the controversy following Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. The whistleblower’s name is redacted in the affidavit.
As the company sought to quell the political controversy during a critical period in 2017, Facebook communications official Tucker Bounds allegedly said, according to the affidavit, “It will be a flash in the pan. Some legislators will get pissy. And then in a few weeks they will move onto something else. Meanwhile we are printing money in the basement, and we are fine.”
